Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them rejoice over their enemies. So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the LORD. And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel. Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around. (2 Chronicles 20:27-30 NKJV)
The key verses of this study are 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. In these verses, we are looking at how God instructed Jehoshaphat to respond to trials and battles. We can be victorious in the LORD through hearing and applying God’s instructions.
We have learned how we can be victorious in the LORD when we put our complete trust in Him during times of trials because the battle belongs to Him. We have also learned that many times the key to victory is to be still and stand our ground. As we do this, our praise and worship are our actions in faith and we see victory through the LORD.
Victory in spiritual battles comes as we rely upon the Lord to fight on our behalf. The battle that Jehoshaphat led Judah through was not an ordinary one. The only one fighting in the battle against the enemy was the LORD. Everyone else just listened and obeyed the Commander; their one direction was to praise the name of the LORD.
Once the battle was won, they went back home to Jerusalem giving praise and worship to the LORD with singing and instruments. They did not need to fear any attack of the enemy because the word had been spread that these people were protected by their God.
If you trust God and acknowledge that the battle belongs to Him, then He will manifest His Victory.
"If the will of God is our will, and if He always has His way, then we always have our way also, and we reign in a perpetual kingdom. He who sides with God cannot fail to win in every encounter; and, whether the result shall be joy or sorrow, failure or success, death or life, we may, under all circumstances, join in the Apostle's shout of victory, 'Thanks be unto God which always causeth us to triumph in Christ!'" - Hannah Whitall Smith
