In our study of the Lord's Prayer, so far we have come to see God as our Heavenly Father, who is Holy and deserves our worship. We also recognize that we are part of the Kingdom of God, and we choose to do His will and trust Him to take care of us. We have also looked at the importance of forgiveness. Today, we ask God to keep us from temptation.
Why would our Father in Heaven, who knows all things, lead us into temptation? God doesn't tempt us, but He allows us to be put into situations where our faith is tested and strengthened. When we ask God to help us, we acknowledge that we cannot resist temptation without Him.
We are in a continual battle - our will versus God's will. But if we are crying from our heart to choose God's will, we will be very careful in what we say or do. We ask God to protect us from sin because we cannot do it without Him. We were designed to be fully dependent on Him. We don't have the ability to resist temptation; we need to completely rely on God to overcome it. God, in His infinite mercy, always gives us a way of escape.
When you are in a time of temptation or testing, know that God is with you to strengthen and show you how to overcome it with His help. Just ask Him.

Scriptures:
"Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity." (Psalm 141:4)
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (I Corinthians 10:13)
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
