Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:3 ESV)
Although the Old Testament may not seem relevant to us today it is part of God’s Word, and He has much to say to us through it that is indeed very relevant to us today.
The Old Testament was the whole Bible that Jesus knew and often quoted. It prophesied His coming, suffering and dying on the cross as the promised Messiah. Although some parts of the Old Testament may seem hard to understand, the Old Testament has so much to teach us about the holiness of God and the seriousness of sin.
If the Old Testament is unfamiliar to you, a good place to start is the book of Psalms, the Bible’s hymnbook that covers the entire range of human condition and emotion. The Psalms will show you how to walk with God in prayer and praise.
"Man does not live by bread alone, even pre-sliced bread."
