Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation. (Habakkuk 3:17-18 NKJV)
In seeing our circumstances through the eyes of faith, we see a glass that is half full instead of one that is half empty. When we are thankful to God, we can see things from a heavenly view.
Thankfulness does not take the reality of difficult situations and gloss over it with platitudes; it is not a magic formula or an easy way out. Thankfulness trusts that God is there with us in the midst of it all, and we can rest in His strength.
"No matter what our circumstance, we can find a reason to be thankful." - David Jeremiah
