Now, when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped destroy one another. So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. (2 Chronicles 20:22-24 NKJV)
We can be victorious in the LORD through hearing and applying God’s instructions.
We can be victorious in the LORD when we put our complete trust in Him during times of trials because the battle belongs to Him. The key to victory is often to be still and stand our ground. As we do this, our praise and worship are our actions in faith.
The timing of the events of Jehoshaphat’s battle in 2 Chronicles 20:22-24 shows that the key to victory was Judah’s obedience to move forward in praise. The real victory belonged to the LORD because the battle took place out of their sight. They later saw the manifestation of the spiritual victory as they found the opposition defeated and everyone dead.
God fights for us in the invisible spirit realm and our eyes will see the victory. We may wonder how praising God at the start of the day will help us with our battles, but putting Him first and keeping Him first in everything is what He instructs us to do.
God’s ways may not make sense to us and that is sometimes His design so that we can grow in our faith walk, trusting Him more and more.
"When we pray for the Spirit's help ... we will simply fall down at the Lord's feet in our weakness. There we will find the victory and power that comes from His love." - Andrew Murray
