Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10 ESV)
Why does change make us anxious? Change can create a feeling of losing control, and we like to be in control. We plan each day as if we have complete control, but something can happen in an instant that redirects our plans.
God has given us the ability to plan, but He often redirects us and when He does, His plan is always better. Sometimes His plan involves change, and when it does we are to trust Him and not be anxious. God is in control and He will get us through it!
As we trust God to lead us in all circumstances, we grow deeper in our faith walk and our hearts become more pure. This change should not make us anxious, but grateful.
As believers, we want to have pure hearts that are pleasing to God. We are promised that all things will work together for good for those who love Him and keep His commandments (Romans 8:28). When we strive to please God in everything that we do, we shine His light for everyone to see.
"Real contentment must come from within. You and I cannot change or control the world around us, but we can change and control the world within us."
