So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV)
In the 1600’s, the main question asked from the Westminister Shorter Catechism that ties into today’s verse was, “What is the chief end of man?” The answer: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” The purpose of our lives is to bring glory to God and to enjoy Him.
What does it mean to enjoy God? Do you enjoy the peace of sins forgiven? Do you enjoy reading the Bible? Do you enjoy talking to God through prayer? Do you enjoy sharing Jesus Christ with others?
If we are to bring glory to God, we do everything with a cheerful heart. All of our actions are to be done willingly and not grudgingly.
"God created you not mainly to do things for him, but to delight in him. The more we enjoy God, the most he is honored, and our very purpose in life is fulfilled." - John Piper
