All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV)
In examining today’s verses, we see that God’s Word provides a profitable and sound basis for doctrine, reproof and correction, and also for instruction in righteousness. That covers just about everything, doesn’t it? Yes indeed!
God’s Word is applicable to all areas of life and to all of life’s circumstances. But God's Word is a shock and wake up call to those who are only familiar with the world’s ways because it sets a very high standard apart from the world. There is no substitute for reading the Bible, and learning and living by its instruction. Through doing this, we honor God and He blesses us richly.
“The idea of sola Scriptura is that there is only one written source of divine revelation, which can never be placed on a parallel status with confessional statements, creeds, or the traditions of the church. Scripture alone has the authority to bind the conscience precisely because only Scripture is the written revelation of almighty God.”
