Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God’s right hand in the place of honor and power.
(Colossians 3:1 NLT)
In today’s verse, Paul is telling us to put our focus on heaven where Christ sits at God’s right hand, because when our eyes are on Christ, we see the matters of this life in a different perspective. We realize there is hope, even when everything seems to be hopeless.
When we learn to view things in this life with an eternal perspective, our struggles don’t disappear, but are seen in the proper light. And when our struggles are seen in the proper light, they lose the terrifying power that they had beforehand.
As you face life’s struggles, keep your eyes focused on Christ and His promises. With Christ, there are no obstacles too big or too difficult.
Trials should not surprise us, or cause us to doubt God’s faithfulness. Rather, we should actually be glad for them. God sends trials to strengthen our trust in him so that our faith will not fail. Our trials keep us trusting; they burn away our self confidence and drive us to our Savior.
