Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10 ESV)
We have a very special plaque in our dining room table with a story called "Footprints in the Sand." This story, written by Mary Fishback Powers, is well known among believers.
"Footprints" is Ms. Powers' story of having a dream and seeing two sets of footprints throughout most of her life. However, she only saw one set of footprints during the most difficult times of her life. The single set of footprints in "Footprints" indicates the times where Christ was carrying Ms. Powers through the most troublesome times of her life.
All of us have had, or will have very difficult times in our lives where it is hard to put one foot ahead of the other to keep moving. As believers, we can rely on Christ to walk with us always, and to even carry us when we cannot move ourselves.
"As you walk through the valley of the unknown, you will find the footprints of Jesus both in front of you and beside you."
