Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26 NKJV)
The two sisters, Martha and Mary, had sent a message to Jesus that Lazarus was sick. But by the time that Jesus arrived, Lazarus had died and his sisters were mourning his death.
In addressing Martha upon His arrival, Jesus tells her that He is the Resurrection and the Life. He further says, "Those who believe in Me, even though they die like everyone, else will live again. They are given external life for believing in me and will never perish. Do you believe this, Martha?" (NLT)
Belief in Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life is essential to the assurance of eternal life. As believers, we can rest assured that we will have eternal life through Christ.
“We live and die; Christ died and lived!”
