But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only...Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:36 and 44 ESV)
Many books have been written on interpreting current era events that fulfill biblical prophesies leading to the return of Jesus. But as Matthew 24:36 tells us, it is God’s design that nobody will know the hour that Jesus will return it occurs.
We can rest assured that each passing day marks a day less to wait for Jesus’ return. Matthew 24:44 instructs us to be ready for His return, for He will come back at an unexpected hour. As believers, we are assured of being ready, as Romans 10:9 states that “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
"We ought to be living as if Jesus died yesterday,
rose this morning, and is coming back this afternoon."
