Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope,
(1 Peter 1: 3 GNT)
The definition of mercy according to Webster is “a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion.” Christ knew before dying for our sins that this was His mission on Earth. And He did this voluntarily for us, dying an excruciating death to save us from our sins, an act that we could not do for ourselves.
Through raising Christ, God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecy that Christ would be raised on the third day. And through His great mercy in doing this, He has given us new life as believers. That’s great mercy: blessing us with His divine favor and compassion. All praise be to God!
"Embrace in one act the two truths--thine own sin,
and God's infinite mercy in Jesus Christ."
