Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
(Philippians 4:8 ESV)
In today’s world of conflicting news and values, it is increasingly more difficult to see what is true and pure. In many instances, the wrong has become right, and what we previously knew as the right has become wrong. We are definitely living in confusing times.
What are we to do? Return to the Bible and its instructions on what is right and wrong, to see how it defines what is true and just, and also its instructions on what is honorable, lovely and commendable. The Bible contains definitions and instructions in all of these areas, and it should be our guide for what is right and wrong in all areas of our lives.
Is this easy to do? No, returning to the Bible will place us at odds with the worldly view in many areas, at odds with today’s status quo. But it’s the right path to take and the right thing to do.
Known as the heart of God, the Bible is His instruction set for us to live our earthly lives successfully. Remember the BIBLE acronym: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, and use the Bible as your guide for living the life that God wants you to have.
“The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others.
Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.”
