Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
- 1 Peter 3:8 NIV
Unity destroys the work of the enemy. There is nothing more that the enemy of our souls would love to do than to cause division between God's people.
It can happen very insidiously - a tilted glance, a tone in the voice, or in body language. Once the bait is taken and division has occurred, the enemy has a foothold in the situation.
Thankfully, God has the antidote. He tells us to be like-minded (unified), sympathetic, loving, compassionate and humble toward each other. May we resist the trap of division and choose love.
“In the New Testament, love is more of a verb than a noun. It has more to do with acting than with feeling. The call to love is not so much a call to a certain state of feeling as it is to a quality of action."
