The Fruit of the Spirit is SELF-CONTROL.
Galatians 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Perhaps one of the hardest things we struggle with on a daily basis is self-control, or self-discipline. From deciding to exercise our bodies, to sleep in, or to eat fruit instead of a donut, we are faced with daily temptations. Though we know that exercise is good for us, or that a piece of fruit holds less calories, the battle that wages in our minds is a constant reminder that sin has power in our lives.
To exercise self-control is to discipline ourselves, to set boundaries, and to have power over our actions. A lack of self-control leads to the free-reign of fleshly, worldly patterns that exercise control over us.
Thank God for his Word and for His divine power, which is everything we need for life and godliness.
