And You say
Be strong and be courageous
For I am always with you
And you will be victorious
For I will never fail you
The above lyrics are from the bridge of Faithful and True, from our first EP self-titled Alabaster Grace.
Why would the Lord tell us to "be strong and courageous" if there were never a need to do so? The fact of the matter is in life we will face situations and circumstances that will test our faith.
God tells us to be strong and courageous. How does that possible? It is His promise to always be with us. We can take comfort in knowing that no matter what we are facing, we are never alone. He is right there beside us speaking to us through His word.
We also get a bonus - we will be victorious. Sometimes what we view as victory is different from what the Lord determines to be victory. One thing is certain. If God has called us to do something to further His kingdom, we will be victorious because He will give us what we need to succeed.
So put on the armor mentioned in Ephesians 6 - belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. Because He is with you, all your plans will succeed and you will be victorious.
Scriptures:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the promise of always of being with us. Help us to trust that in all things we can be strong and courageous because of You. Amen.
