I lift my eyes up to the heavens
Up to the Lord over all the earth
And I know my God is with me
Today we begin sharing one of our songs, Faithful and True, from our first EP self-titled Alabaster Grace.
A song written by Paul Wilbur has made famous is based on Psalm 121. "I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth."
Faithful and True has the same kind of theme - when we need help, we can trust in God to help us. It is a very simple concept to know in our heads, but a difficult one to sink into our hearts and practice continually.
Many times we coast along through life depending upon our own abilities to take care of situations that need to be addressed. However, when we hit a wall and are unable to break through, we cry out to God as a last resort.
Even now at this writing, we are facing the news of an event that seems overwhelming. So now is our chance to lift our eyes up to the One who WILL help us. Let us keep our eyes on Him, and not our problems.
Scriptures:
Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up Your heads, because your redemption draws near. (Luke 21:28)
I will lift up my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2)
Prayer:
Father, we lift our eyes up to You for everything and continually rely on You to provide our needs, whatever they may be. Amen.
