For a few more days we are sharing one of our songs, Lord, We Will Bless Your Name for the devotion.
In the bridge of the song, the name El-Shaddai is used. When translated into English, it is usually rendered as: God Almighty. It’s a word reflecting on His strength, majesty, and power.
God is powerful enough to provide His people with blessings. Not only is He powerful enough to do so; He wants to, but he also wants us to worship and obey Him. God is able to give us what we need. He is our Lord, and our God. He is our refuge and our fortress, our high tower and deliverer. He is everything we need and He is the God who is enough; He is all-sufficient.
In our every day life we are constantly put into situations where our abilities are put to the test. The fact of the matter is that no matter what we do, it is never quite enough. Thankfully, we serve a God who is all-sufficient. When we rely on Him and His strength, we can do all things through Christ.
Take heart today knowing that El Shaddai is all you need. Reflect on His goodness and mercy and let Him fill you with His peace and rest.
Scriptures:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (II Corinthians 12:9)
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work (II Corinthians 9:8)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being all we need. You are the God who gives us the desires of our hearts. Our desire is to trust in Your all-sufficiency so that we can demonstrate to others the wonder of Your love for all of us. Amen.
