Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7 ESV)
Where does anxiety come from? Anxiety is the opposite of love, a topic we have looked at numerous times, and these negative emotions come from the evil one.
It is very hard to stay calm in a crisis. Anxiety rises up within us, and this is the influence of the evil one. Few of us recognize it; instead, we tend to blame ourselves, other people, or our circumstances.
One key Scripture for us to memorize and have immediately available in trying times is Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (NKJV).
When we internalize Ephesians 6:12, we can trust in the Lord and be given His peace that surpasses all understanding, knowing that He will give us the strategy on how to combat anxiety.
"Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength." - Charles Spurgeon
