But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. Romans 6:22 (NIV)
The freedom we have received through the blood of Jesus is a gift. However, our freedom came at a cost. Jesus became the sacrifice to pay for our sins. He gave Himself on the Cross so that we might live. He made this sacrifice voluntarily because He loves us and paid the price that we could never afford to pay ourselves.
So, as believers in Christ, what are we called to do? Because we have been set free from our many sins by His sacrifice on the Cross, we are also called to be servants of God, to put Him first and keep Him first in everything we do. When we glorify God in everything we do, our actions lead us to holiness and a closer relationship with Him.
"I have to get to the point of the absolute and unquestionable relationship that takes everything exactly as it comes from Him. God never guides us at some time in the future, but always here and now. Realize that the Lord is here now, and the freedom you receive is immediate." - Oswald Chambers
