I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. (Psalm 9:1 ESV)
One reason we find so many things to worry about is that we practice finding problems, so we become experts. Like any customary practice, the more we worry, the easier it becomes to worry.
One way to take our minds off our problems is to focus on the good things in life. It can be hard to feel grateful if we aren’t used to giving thanks. Many people find writing down what they feel thankful for each day changes their whole outlook for the better.
Try this experiment: Each day, write down three things that you are grateful for in your life. After a month, you will have a list of almost 100 things for which you are thankful. After a year, you will have over 1000!
As you do this, you will find it is easier to notice the good things in your life, and you will experience joy and increased appreciation for others. This, in turn, will help you feel less anxiety, and it will increase your attitude of gratitude.
"The Bible tells us that whenever we come before God, whatever our purpose or prayer request, we are always to come with a thankful heart." - David Jeremiah
