The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
(Lamentations 3:25-26 ESV)
God's timing is perfect. Our timing, not so much. As a child, did you ever ask your parents while you were on a trip, "Are we there yet?" The concept of time for a child is immediate. The idea of patience is nonexistent, especially when looking forward to something.
Sometimes we are like this with the Lord. When He has put a dream or desire into our hearts, we are anxious to see it come to pass quickly. But what benefit is it really? It's like baking a cake. Waiting 30 minutes for it to be done is excruciating, especially when you can smell the tasty aroma. However, in the end, it is worth the wait because the end product is a delicious dessert instead of a pan of runny and uncooked batter.
God has promised to direct our path every moment of every day. Our task is to be patient and let Him do His work in us. His timing is always perfect!
"Those who do not hope cannot wait; but if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." - Charles Spurgeon
