There is no difference between the one who plants and the one who waters; God will reward each one according to the work each has done. (1 Corinthians 3:8 GNT)
It is human nature to compare ourselves to others. Sometimes we judge our own worth by how we measure up to others. When we do this, we minimalize the worth that God has placed on us. Each of us is created uniquely and with a specific plan and purpose. God has given each of us abilities and qualities to be successful in doing His work.
The works that we do for God will be rewarded according to the measure we do them. For example, when we take an academic test, our knowledge or preparation is measured in the grade that we earn. How we plant and how we build will be tested by God. How we apply and use what God has given us will determine our rewards or lack of them.
The abilities we have been given - grace, love, spiritual gifts, the Holy Spirit, talents and abilities, time, tangible resources – are all to be used faithfully for Christ and His Kingdom.
