And he (Jahaziel) said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’” (2 Chronicles 20:15 NKJV)
Knowing that we are weak, but God is strong, gives us the ability to realize that the battle belongs to the LORD. When you turn it over to Him and trust Him to fight it His way, it's no longer your battle but His battle! It is His battle and His Victory.
David used the same phrase for his fight with Goliath: “For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hand” (1 Samuel 17:47 ESV). Goliath was much bigger than David, but David's faith was in the God who is greater than all. David showed his faith by declaring the victory in advance and giving God the praise for it. He then attacked the problem, rather than waiting for it in fear. As we go against our Goliaths, we must declare that our faith is in God and not ourselves.
When we praise and magnify the name of the LORD, lifting up His authority over the battle, we declare that "the battle belongs to the LORD." So, give your battles to the LORD, trusting in Him for the outcome.
