For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. - Philippians 2:13 NIV
There is a fable called The Tortoise and The Hare. The tortoise is in a race with the hare and is confident of winning because of his speed. However, along the way he gets sidetracked and decides to take a nap. He ends up losing to the tortoise. The tortoise never wavers; he moves along very slowly, and never stops until he is at the finish line. The moral, or lesson of the story is that you can be more successful by doing things slowly and steadily than by acting quickly and carelessly.
Sometimes we want to be like the hare, jumping ahead of God and trusting in our own abilities. God wants us to be like the tortoise, trusting Him every step of the way and being patient in the journey.
God is working in you. Take a moment to slow down and let Him lead you. He will get you to the finish line in His time.
“The journey has but one guarantee: Christ promises to go with us and to bring us out the other side. Our Lord finishes what He starts. He does not abort His handiwork in the middle of its creation.”
