The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making the wise simple;
Psalm 19:7 (ESV)
We live in an age where much of what was previously seen as wrong is now right, and what was right is now wrong. The emphasis is increasingly more on self versus serving others.
Today we see a relaxation of moral standards with a new norm: if it feels right, do it, especially as long as it doesn’t hurt others. Many things are now accepted that a few decades ago would have been unacceptable. How has this change of redefining right and wrong occurred?
Our country has continued to move further away from biblical standards defining right and wrong. In moving away from the Bible, we have lost sight of the truth, as stated in Psalm 19:7, that “the law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.”
The law of the LORD guides and protects and gives joy to the heart and light to the eyes. Because He loves us more than we can imagine, His laws are designed to keep us from danger. It is through returning to the laws of the LORD that we are revived, have joy, and become wise.
"Not until we have become humble and teachable, standing in awe of God's holiness and sovereignty. Acknowledging our littleness, distrusting our own thoughts, and willing to have our minds turned upside down, can divine wisdom become ours." - J.I. Packer
