May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV)
Hope in daily living is very important, and for us as Christians, our hope is trusting in God’s promises regardless of the situation that we are facing.
Romans 5:3-5 states, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (ESV)
So when we suffer, it is important to remember these relationships: suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Hope is not dependent upon other people, possessions, or circumstances. Hope is living by the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
"Hope fills the afflicted soul with such inward joy and consolation, that it can laugh while tears are in the eye, sigh and sing all in a breath; it is called 'The rejoicing of hope."' - William Gurnall
