God is in Control

“I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
therefore I despise myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.”
(Job 42:5-6 ESV)

Job lost everything – his children, his flocks, his servants, his property, and also his health. But even after suffering all of this, he repented to making judgments about matters that he should not have judged, and he concluded that God is sovereign and good. Job realized how insignificant he was in the presence of the Creator of the Universe, and he continued to worship God.

Job’s response should be our response as we walk through difficult times. It is during the trials that we need to trust in God’s sovereignty. We may not understand what He is doing or why, but we need to be confident that He is in control of all things, all the time.

In resting in God’s sovereignty, we are called to react as Job did placing total trust and confidence in the Creator of the Universe. Remember that through trials and suffering, we have the opportunity to grow deeper in our relationship with our Heavenly Father knowing that He is in control of everything, all the time. Amen.

"From Genesis to Revelation, here’s the central message: God Almighty, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God, the Triune God is in control of all things, period."
-Charles Stanley
