Today we are continuing to share one of our songs, Who Is Like You from our second EP, If My People.
Deep calling to deep
Spirit to Spirit
My heart to Your heart cries, "Holy"
When this portion of the song was written, it was a heart cry to know the God of the universe and the Lord of our hearts in a deeper and more intimate way. How do we do that? A simple answer is spending more time with Him. We have to make it a priority. When our prayer is to know Him better, He hears that prayer and answers it. Sometimes, the answer comes in a way we don't expect.
This morning on the way to an appointment, I (Joan) was stuck on not one, but two bridges. The first bridge was undergoing road construction. The second bridge was a drawbridge opening. A Navy ship was loaded with fortifications and was heading out to sea to defend our country.
In both instances, I was looking at water - deep water. I was forced to stop and wait, along with a number of other impatient drivers. As I was waiting on the second bridge, I got the impression that sometimes God gets our attention by making us stop and listen. There was nothing else to do on the bridge, but to be still.
In order for us to go deeper with the Lord, we must be still and listen to what He is trying to say to us. If we are truly seeking to go deeper with Him, we will need to turn off the noise all around us.
Today let yourself get stuck on a bridge to look out into deeper water and into the deeper things of the Lord.
Scriptures:
O Lord, how great are Your works! and Your thoughts are very deep. (Psalm 92:5)
Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep: O Lord, You preserve man and beast. (Psalm 36:6)
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. (Proverbs 20:5)
Prayer:
O Lord, we want to know you deeper. Help us to listen to Your voice so that we can know you better. Our hearts to Your heart cry "Holy". Amen.
