Today we come to the end of sharing one of our songs, Lord, We Will Bless Your Name for the devotion.
The last name in the bridge of the song is Adonai. In previous devotions, we looked at the name Adonai - Lord, Master.
Have you ever been in a situation where someone in authority over you gave you a task to do, but they were unwilling to do it himself or herself? Maybe you struggled with anger or resentment about the unfairness of being told what to do.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ has never and will never ask us to do anything that He would not do Himself. He tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves - He proved that by dying on the cross. He tells us to forgive others - He did that on the cross when He said, "Father, forgive them for they don't know what they are doing".
We serve a most gracious and loving Lord. He gave up everything so that we might live. He is our model, the standard on which we strive to attain.
Today, be a willing servant for the Master in everything you say or do and look at the smile on His face.
Scriptures:
For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bondservants for Jesus' sake. (2 Corinthians 4:5)
Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Romans 6:16)
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for sending us You Son, Lord Jesus Christ to come and die in our place so that we might live. Help us to live the kind of lives that bring honor and glory to Your Holy name. Amen.
