This is how God showed his love among us: 
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us 
and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:10 NIV) 

In sending His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him, God showed us the deepest and strongest love in the universe. Not that we first loved Him, but that He loved us enough to send His only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 

Jesus' death on the Cross was for each of us personally and all of us collectively, so that we can be forgiven our sins and have eternal life through faith in Him. This is amazing grace, God's love freely given to all of us!
