“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.” (2 Chronicles 20:17 NKJV)
It is through hearing and applying God’s instructions that we can be victorious in the LORD.
Imagine how the people must have felt hearing the instruction from God the night before an intense battle. They only were told to position themselves and then to stand still. Those who truly trusted in the LORD probably had a very good night’s rest. Everyone else probably had a sleepless night wondering and hoping that God would stand by His promise. By morning, their resolve to trust in the LORD was sealed, and they stepped out in faith and positioned themselves for battle.
What is God saying to us in our battles? God backs up His Word by reminding us of our position in Him. As Paul says, I am more than a conqueror through Christ. I am an overcomer for Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Thanks be to God who gives me the victory through my Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:37)
We can stand in His victory and praise Him knowing that the true enemy is not who we see with our eyes. Ephesians 6:12 tells us this, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (NKJV)”
