And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. (1 John 2:25 NKJV)
Jesus said that instead of worrying we should “seek first the kingdom of God,” (Matthew 6:32). Paul tells us not to set our minds on earthly things, because our citizenship is in heaven, (Philippians 3:19-20). “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth,” (Colossians 3:2 NJKV).
Many people don’t want to think about what happens to us when our mortal bodies give out. Some people think that once we die, there is nothing else, that our bodies just become part of the earth and our existence is no more.
But one thing is for certain; one day each one of us will die. And what happens after that? Those of who us who are Christ followers look forward to spending eternity in heaven with God, as Jesus has promised us as believers.
On earth we face turmoil and problems, but this world is not our home. Heavenly things are not a fairy-tale future, but the promise that make our life worth living. Therefore, let us seek to be eternally happy and know that we will live after death. Let us think of this and remember it, for it is the truth.
"Saving faith is an immediate relation to Christ, accepting, receiving, resting upon Him alone, for justification, sanctification, and eternal life by virtue of God's grace." - Charles Spurgeon
