If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)
Today’s verse, 2 Chronicles 7:14, is from the time of Solomon’s reign as the richest king in Israel’s history. Although he started out on solid footing, he fell from power as the result of his sinful ways and those of Israel.
As a nation, Israel sinned without repenting and was subsequently punished by God. We see significant parallels between Israel during Solomon’s reign and our country today, with much movement away from God and biblical principles.
In 2016 we wrote a song, Heal Our Land, based on 2 Chronicles 7:14 as a prayer for healing in our country. We were honored to share this song at the 2019 Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast in January this year. Some of the lyrics are:
If Your people will humble themselves,
If Your people will pray,
If Your people turn from their wicked ways,
If Your people will pray,
Then You will hear from heaven,
You will hear from heaven,
Father, You will hear from heaven and heal our land.
Today, we humbly ask that you take a few moments to pray for our country and its leaders, that our country will humble itself and pray, turning from its wicked ways, so that we can hear from heaven and be healed as “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America - our country is in need of
and ready for a spiritual renewal.
