I praise You for the chains You broke
and how You set me free
Today we continue sharing the first song on our latest CD, Before Your Throne. It is the title track entitled, I Stand Before Your Throne (click track title to play song).
The visual image of chains is not pleasant. Chains represent bondage, being a prisoner, and having no control over a situation.
Jesus came to set us free from sin. Without the shedding of His blood, we would have no hope that the bonds of sin could be removed from us. Chains come in many forms: addictions, unforgiveness, fear, etc. Jesus broke the chains of all bondage when He died on the cross.
What are your chains? Let Jesus remove them from You. He has the key.
Scriptures:
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. (Luke 4:18)
Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains… Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. (Psalm 107:10, 13-16)
Prayer:
Lord, I ask You to free me from all the sources of my bondage. I have tried and failed, because I relied on my own strength. I thank You that in You, I can know freedom and the fullness of joy. Lord, I choose to follow You and walk the path You have for my life. Thank You, Jesus, for setting me free! Amen!
