Forgive us, Lord
And make us strong
To walk in each new day
And we will take authority
And break the chains away
We continue looking at lyrics to our original song, "We Will Overcome",from our second EP entitled, If My People...
This song came about as a result of being part of a play written by Mark Eulo called the Unveiling the Son of Man: The Revelation of Jesus Christ - Part 1, based on the first five chapters of Revelation.
After the people of the church in Thyatira realized their sin they sought forgiveness from the Lord. Upon knowing that they were forgiven, the church was emboldened to stand up for what is right with authority.
So many of us, when we sin, are hesitant to approach the throne of grace because of the shame that the sin carries. But our Lord prompts us to come to Him in order to receive forgiveness. It is only when we know we are forgiven that we are able to walk in true freedom.
When we know we are walking in freedom, we can have no fear because we know that the Lord is on our side and we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
If you are feeling weak today, go to the Lord. Seek His face, acknowledge your sins, and bask in His presence.
Scriptures:
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:8-12)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for love and forgiveness. Help us to know that in You comes true strength. Give us boldness to take back what the enemy has stolen. Amen.
