You see what motivates our hearts,
Our thoughts, our words, our deeds
We have tolerated Jezebel
And we have been deceived
Today we continue to focus on our original song, "We Will Overcome", from our second EP titled If My People...
Yesterday, we introduced this song that came about as a result of being part of a play written by Mark Eulo called the Unveiling the Son of Man: The Revelation of Jesus Christ - Part 1 based on the first five chapters of Revelation.
The lyrics we focus on today relate to the heart's condition of the church of Thyatira. Rather than taking a stand and calling out the evil pervading the church, many members were being complacent not wanting to create any waves to bring about possible retaliation.
The state of Thyatira at the time of the book of Revelation is a mirror image of the church today. Many of us see things happening in the church that are wrong, but we are not standing up and calling it out. Instead, we are letting ourselves be deceived to thinking that we should be tolerant.
The Lord Jesus Christ was adamant to the church of Thyatira to overcome evil. He is saying the same thing to us today.
Scriptures:
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality. (Rev. 19:1-2)
Prayer:
Lord, we confess that we have let ourselves be deceived to be tolerant of evil in the church. Give us the boldness to stand up for what is right in order to bring glory to Your name. Amen.
