Today we focus on RIGHTEOUSNESS. What is righteousness? A dictionary definition is "behavior that is morally justifiable or right." Human righteousness is the standard of morality, justice, virtue, and uprightness. It is God's perfection. How do we meet that standard? It is not humanly possible. God, in His infinite mercy, made the way for us to be righteous before Him receiving Him as our Lord and Savior. It is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah) and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that we can claim righteousness because "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21). So when we stand before Almighty God, He will not see our sin, but the holy righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A righteous person is not one who lives a religiously pious life, but one who follows the correct path, the path of God. The path He is directing us to take is narrow, but it is full of wonderful things. Sometimes we may want to stray from His path, but doing so always leads to pain and regret.
No matter what you are going through, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you have the robe of righteousness wrapped around you. If you are having difficulty seeing yourself robed in RIGHTEOUSNESS, take time to meditate on His Word and focus on scriptures that are about RIGHTEOUSNESS. Here are a few to help get you started:
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
And, having been set free from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6:18)
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, (1 Corinthians 1:30)
For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:10)
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (Romans 6:13)
Blessings to you!
